Introduction to Archery

To become a member of Geelong Archers, participants must either have experience in archery or, if new to archery, must complete our 3 week beginner’s course: Introduction To Archery. These courses run 4 times a year on Saturday mornings at our Deakin University range in Waurn Ponds.

If you are new to archery, our Introduction to Archery course will teach you everything you need to get started in the sport of archery. The course is very popular and fills up fast.

Our Introduction to Archery course covers basic shooting technique and safety while shooting and is everything you need to get started in the sport of Archery. Our course

uses recurve bows, participants interested in compound or other

bows should speak to one of the instructors 

during the course.

​

Run by qualified archery instructors, the

course gives you a chance to safely try out

archery and see if its the sport for you.

Each Introduction To Archery Course course

runs for three weeks. Minimum age for participants is 10 years old.

2023 Course Prices 

Adults: $85

Juniors $60 (10 to under 17 years of age)

Deakin Students $60

This cost covers:

  • Equipment Hire

  • Instruction on shooting technique

  • Instruction on shooting safety

When you have completed your introduction course you can then shoot for up to 9 more consecutive

weeks at our regular club shoots with a $5 shooting fee per visit (held every Wednesday morning, Saturdays & Sundays and Summer Thursday night twilight shoots).

If you wish to continue shooting after these 9 weeks you will need to join the club, after which,

you will no longer need to pay the shooting fee.

Equipment hire is included in your introduction course but will cost $5 per session after your course.

While we encourage new members to purchase their own equipment you are able to rent club equipment for as long as you need.

Archery Instructors

Geelong Archers has trained and accredited archery instructors who will help you in the beginners courses, as well as assist in improving your archery.
